- International Women’s Day inspired us every year to recall some stories of the greatest women. In this article we decided to mention Susan Wojcicki and Sheryl Sandberg. Why them? These “IT queens” are the example of work, success and life balance for a lot of women today.
“Work smart. Get things done. No nonsense. Move fast.” – this Susan’s Wojcicki quote can inspire many women around the world to develop their careers, families and lives. Susan Wojcicki studied history and literature in Harvard University, after graduation she took part as a marketing manager in one startup called Google. Susan had worked there on advertising products for several years. She was that person, who had the idea to buy YouTube and DoubleClick, and these purchases were successful for Google and its monetization strategy.
From 2014 Susan Wojcicki has been a CEO of YouTube global video provider with a lot of ambitions. More than 1.5 billion internet users visit YouTube every single month.
By the way, Susan has a close-knit family with 5 children and a beloved husband. She stands for paid maternity leave and importance of work and life balance. Susan Wojcicki was #10 in Fortune’s list of Most Powerful Women 2018.
Sheryl Sandberg also worked in Google as a general manager of a business unit. After some time, she became vice president of online global sales and operations. Sheryl Sandberg was responsible for the development of such products as AdWords and AdSense. Both AdWords and AdSense were beneficial for Google.
Sandberg became a COO at Facebook in 2008. Sandberg’s advertising strategy resulted into success for Facebook. By the way, Sheryl Sandberg also has a family. Her quote – “Women need to shift from thinking “I’m not ready to do that” to thinking “I want to do that – and I’ll learn by doing it,” – emphasizes that women should be more self-confident.
Besides the business she is popular speaker and inspirer for all women around the world. Her books help to believe that you should choose only one thing: family or career – you can be successful enough in every sphere.
We have mentioned only some life facts of these great women. You can find their detailed biographies or TEDx speeches on the Internet. We just wanted to remind, that everything is possible, if you are open–minded, hard-working and believe in yourself. Just like Sheryl Sandberg said – “Being confident and believing in your own self-worth is necessary to achieving your potential”. Happy International Women’s Day!
